If it’s raining or you need a break from the jaw-dropping scenery, head across to the old theatre to check out some classic 80’s Icelandic viking flicks.
Pioneered by the director Hrafn Gunnlaugsson, there is a series of films known as “cod westerns” which although sadly unknown to most outside of Scandinavia are claimed to be the most authentic viking films made. This summer, Húsavík cinema seeks to mend this disparity, screening weekly gems for the passers by.
Check the facebook page for show times and to see which particular film is on or give Sam a ring on 6942074 to find out more. Extra shows on rainy days, or always available to open for group bookings.
Take a left after the church, past the shoe shop, on the right – in the middle of the car park, with the words Cult Icelandic 80s Viking Cinema in big letters in the windows.
