Today is a great day for Húsavík. The blue whale project which has been in a long process ever since a blue whale drifted to the beach in Skagi in 2010 finally came to an end today when the Whale Museum opened after 6 months of constructions. Húsavík is now one of only ten places in the world that have a skeleton of the largest animal in the world. Many people, local- and tourists gathered today to the museum to see the outcome of this BIG project. The exhibition is breathtaking as you can see in the following pictures.
The skeleton lies in a beach-like surroundings, just like the blue whale was found in 2010.
The souvenir shop got an attention from guests as usual.
